SHRUM, Genevieve M. of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2012 at the age of 99. Mrs. Shrum taught Spanish at Northeast High School for many years and was much beloved by the hundreds of students whose lives she enriched. Mrs. Shrum was a longtime member and elder at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Shrum, and is survived by a sister, Adele Phinney, of Middlebury, VT; a brother, John B. Marshall, of San Antonio, TX, and by several nieces and nephews and their children. The family deeply appreciates the love and care provided by Westminster Palms, Suncoast Hospice, and by friend and neighbor, Janice Donahue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Palms, Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, April 9 at 10 am, or Suncoast Hospice.
